Luxury Uganda & Rwanda safari – 10 days

Day 1: Arrival to Uganda

Arrive at Entebbe airport for your Luxury Uganda & Rwanda safari. We meet our tour guide and transfer to the hotel in Kampala to relax after the flight to be ready for the adventure starting the next day.

Day 2: Transfer to crater lakes by Kibale Forest

In the early morning we leave busy Kampala behind and drive towards Kibale Forest. Leave the bustling city of Kampala behind and head out to the countryside. We pass by markets, villages and tea-estates where we can make stops to brake the journey. Arrive at the beautiful lodge for an afternoon of taking in the luxurious scenic setting.

Day 3: Chimps trekking in Kibale Forest

After breakfast we drive over to the chimps trekking starting point in Kibale Forest, here you go in the jungle in a group with a specialised guide, the first highlight of this Luxury Uganda & Rwanda safari. Kibale forest national park is a rainy forest and a home to over 1500 Chimpanzees. During your morning chimps trekking you will hopefully see them close and capture shots of our closest cousins in the Jungle in their frenzy exciting moods grooming! Besides the chimps 9 different species of Monkeys are found in this forest, for example red colobus, red tailed monkey and bush babies. After the trek your guide picks you and takes you to the lodge to relax.

Day 4: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth NP & boat-cruise on Kazinga channel

We leave Kibale Forest in the morning and drive through the beautiful crater lakes region down to Queen Elizabeth national park. We have lunch and get to the afternoon boat-cruise on Kazinga channel. This natural channel connects Lake George – Lake Edward. Here you can see Hippopotamuses yawning, Nile Crocodile gaping along the Banks, Savannah version of Pigs the Warthog, impressive elephants and more. After the boat we continue on to the luxury lodge for dinner and a relaxed evening.

Day 5: Game-drive in Ishasha and transfer to Kisoro by Mgahinga NP

After breakfast we leave the lodge and head towards Ishasha, the southern sector of Queen Elizabeth national park. Ishasha is known for its tree-climbing lions, one of two places in Africa where the lions have the habit of regularly climbing trees to rest. We drive along the tracks seeing buffaloes, topis and hopefully the lions in the fig-trees. After the morning game-drive we continue the journey to Kisoro and the beautiful lodge by Mgahinga National Park, where this night of the 10 days Luxury Uganda and Rwanda safari will be spent.

Day 6: Gorilla trekking day- Mgahinga National Park

In the morning we drive to the gorilla trekking starting point where your adventure will begin. You are lead into the forest in a group with a specialised guide and make a trek to the point where the gorillas are. Then you get to spend one unforgettable hour with the gorilla family. After the trek we set off for our target destination Rwanda, the second country in the Luxury Uganda & Rwanda safari. Drive out to cross the relaxed border post and continue on through a beautiful landscape in Rwanda to reach the lodge by Virunga national park where we spend the night.

Day 7: Golden Monkey trekking in Volcanoes national park and transfer to Lake Kivu

This morning you set off to meet the golden monkeys. Your guide takes you to the starting point and you set off with a specialised guide for the trek. You’ll experience beautiful nature and get a great experience of primates. After the trek we leave Virunga National Park and make the short journey to Lake Kivu. Here you can enjoy the beautiful lake and relax after the trek.

Day 8: Transfer to Nyungwe forest national park

We continue our Luxury Uganda and Rwanda safari by exploring Rwanda and this day the target is to transfer to Nyungwe Forest. Enjoy the landscape passing by the windows and take in the Rwandese countryside. In the afternoon we check in at the lodge close to Nyungwe forest and enjoy the evening.

Day 9: Canopy walk in Nyungwe forest national park

This morning you head into Nyungwe forest for a canopy walk to experience the jungle for the last time during this Luxury Uganda and Rwanda safari. After the walk we head back to the lodge to enjoy an afternoon of luxury in a close to nature setting.

Day 10: Transfer to Kigali & flight day (plan for evening flight)

We start our journey in the morning with Rwanda’s capital Kigali as our target destination. Ones again we get to experience the countryside and scenic landscapes along the way. We expect to arrive in the city during the afternoon so plan for an evening or night flight from Kigali airport (or add a night to fly the next day). Your guide drops you at the airport as we have finished your  Luxury Uganda and Rwanda safari.
