Day by day itinerary


Day 1: Fly-in to Queen Elizabeth National Park & evening game-drive

Start the journey from Entebbe to land at the airstrip in Queen Elizabeth national park. Be picked up by your safari guide in a comfortable 4x4 vehicle and taken to the luxury lodge for check-in. Towards the late afternoon we head out on the savanna for a first game-drive searching for leopards and lions.

Day 2: Morning chimps trekking and afternoon game-drive in Kasenyi area

After breakfast we head towards the Kyambura Gorge where you will go for a chimps trekking adventure. Enjoy the special nature and head into the forest to meet the chimpanzees. After the trek we head back to the luxury lodge for a nice lunch and a bit of relaxation. Later in the afternoon it is time for a game-drive in the Kasenyi area of Queen Elizabeth national park. We search for lions, look at buffaloes, birds and antelopes as well as a salt lake. As the sun sets we head back to the lodge for dinner.

Day 3:  Crater lakes - village walk morning and afternoon boat-cruise

Several crater lakes can be found in the Queen Elizabeth area and this morning we head out to explore  these beautiful wonders of nature. In the morning we as well fit in a village walk seeing the life of Ugandan's. After this we journey back to the luxury lodge for lunch before heading for the boat-cruise on the Kazinga channel in the afternoon. The Kazinga channel connects Lake George and Lake Edward and along its banks there are hippos, buffaloes and elephants visiting the water. From the boat you can see the big mammals as well as many different bird species. In the evening you enjoy a nice dinner at the lodge.

Day 4:  Morning game-drive and free afternoon to relax at the lodge

We head out for a morning game-drive as the sun rises over the savanna to soak in the beauty of Queen Elizabeth national park. We now have a chance to catch a glimpse of lion, leopard and the other residents of the park. In time for lunch we are back at the lodge and have a free afternoon to enjoy the luxury lodge. Possible to spend time by the pool or just relax with a good book as you take in the views.

Day 5: Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park via Ishasha's tree-climbing lions

We leave the lodge in the early morning to head towards the Ishasha part of Queen Elizabeth national park, known for its tree-climbing lions. The drive there takes around two hours and is an experience in it self as we might spot both elephants, baboons and black-and-white colobus monkeys by the road side. When reaching Ishasha we make a game-drive searching for lions in the big fig trees and being fascinated by the peculiar looking topis. After the game-drive we continue towards Bwindi Impenetrable national park, the home of the mountain gorillas. This journey offers beautiful views as we go from flat savanna via cultivated hills on to the forest covered mountains of Bwindi. Spend the evening relaxing at the lodge getting ready for tomorrows big adventure of gorilla trekking.

Day 6: Gorilla trekking day

After breakfast at the lodge it is time to head to the gorilla trekking starting point. Your guide will take care of all practicalities and you take part in the briefing where you are told about the rules for the meeting with the mountain gorillas. You then walk off into the jungle with a group of up to eight people and a specialized guide to trek to the point where the gorillas are. A search team is always sent out in the early morning to locate the gorillas and lead the trekking guide to that point. Bwindi is a beautiful jungle so the trek is  an experience in itself. When you reach the point where the gorillas are you spend one unforgettable hour with them, hopefully spotting the great silverback, seeing some young members playing and studying these fascinating creatures close up. After the meeting with the gorillas you trek back and are picked up by your guide for the drive back to the lodge to rest.

Day 7: Fly-out, Bwindi-Entebbe

Enjoy  a nice breakfast and soak in the last of the magnificent views of the Misty mountains of Bwindi Impenetrable national park. In time for your flight your guide takes you down to the airstrip and wishes you a safe journey. You leave Bwindi with unforgettable memories of your Queen Elizabeth and Gorillas fly-in safari. 



Possible extensions

  • If you want more primates it is possible to exchange the day 4 morning game-drive for chimps trekking in Kalinzu forest.
  • Possible to add one day for a second day of gorilla trekking
  • Relax a few days at Pineapple Bay on Bulago Island (in Lake Victoria) after the safari. 
  • Stay a night in Kampala in connection to the safari if needed for your flight schedule.
